Dharwad Town Police Apprehend Accused in Gold Chain Theft

Dharwad: The Town Police have successfully apprehended an individual accused of stealing two gold chains, collectively weighing 19 grams and valued at over Rs 1 lakh. The theft occurred through diversion tactics at a jewelry shop located on Subash Road.

The accused, identified as Yasmin Shakeel Shaik, 33, and a resident of Bhusappa Chowk in Dharwad, was taken into custody. The incident took place on January 1 when Yasmin visited the jewelry shop under the pretense of purchasing gold ornaments. While feigning interest in buying yellow metal jewelry, she managed to divert the attention of the owner and staff, allowing her to discreetly steal two gold chains before leaving the premises.

Upon realizing the missing chains, the owner promptly reported the incident to the police. Led by NS Kadadevarmath, the police team acted swiftly, arresting the accused and recovering the stolen items from her possession. Yasmin Shakeel Shaik was subsequently presented before a judge to face legal proceedings.
